Review of Ambre Solaire Dry Mist SPF50

Is it just my perception or does anyone else think that this summer is shaping up to be one of our better ones? I’m wearing my summer dresses much more than normal and I’ve lost count of the amount of times we’ve eaten in the garden, and we’ve still got a couple of months of summer left.

A colleague was recently complaining to me about having to be slathered in sun cream as she often works outside, so I told her about a sun cream I discovered a couple of years ago. I am often extoling the virtues of this sun protection so I thought that I would tell you about it too!

To tell you the truth, when it comes to sun cream, I’m a bit of a factor 50 girl. Don’t get me wrong, I love it when the sun comes out – everyone is happy and life seems so much more relaxed. But I’m not at all keen on getting burnt. I just don’t see the point in taking risks, and my youngest burns really quickly. However, I hate the feel of sun cream – that sticky, gloopy feeling is not at all appealing.

So when I saw Garnier Ambre Solaire Dry Mist a couple of years ago I knew I had to give it a go. A short while before that, I’d discovered their Clear Protect and I liked it. It felt nicer than all the other sun creams I’d tried up to that point. However, this Dry Mist feels even better. It claims to have a powder like feel, and I agree. It leaves no stickiness, with only the tiniest trace of greasiness discernible (if you’re being picky).

This sun cream is also so easy to use. It’s much easier to rub in than the traditional cream, no more rubbing and rubbing or walking round covered in white streaks, and as of yet it has not stained any of our clothes making me much more likely to re-apply it when I’m out and about. Another good point is that you can hold the can at any angle to spray making it a lot easier to apply to those hard to reach areas like your back.

There are all the regular warnings about re-applying after swimming (though it is water resistant), and every few hours. However, I think these are common sense and are something I would do anyway.

On the back of the can it warns you not to spray this directly onto your face, and to avoid contact with your eyes. I get round this by spraying it into my hand then applying it to my face with my fingers as you would with any other sun cream.

And it’s not just me who likes this sun cream. Last month it received a Which? Best Buy award.

So, are there any down sides to it? The only one that I can see is that it only receives 3 stars out of 5 for its UVA protection. This is not a problem for us because we don’t spend hours laying on sun beds and always wear a hat. Admittedly it would be great if that rating were higher, but the fact that this feels so good massively outweighs that fact for me. All in all I think it’s a fantastic product. I’ve told so many people about it, who have since tried it and loved it. Why not give it a go and let me know how you get on with it?

Disclosure: I will receive a small percentage of the sale if you purchase this product through the Amazon link above.  However, the price is the exactly the same as if you went through the Amazon website directly. This post has not been sponsored by Garnier.  It is an honest write-up from using this product; all opinions are my own.

This was the worst suncream I’ve ever used! Whole family got burnt when using this, bearing in mind we had been on holiday for a whole week using other creams….. do not buy

The only problem with this sun protection is it doesn’t protect you from the harmful rays of the sun!!!

Sunscreen is definitely a must have for me! I think Neutrogena and La Rosche Posay have the best facial sunscreen.
