Later this week I am posting a recipe for affogato – an incredibly easy ice cream and coffee dessert that adults love. This hot chocolate sauce is a perfect alternative to serve to the kids, and any adults who don’t like coffee for that matter. It’s quick and easy to make and I think you’ll love it. Feel free to make it ahead and serve it cold if that works better for you and if you want to spice things up a little then a touch of cinnamon makes a nice addition.
As a heads up, all you’ll need for the affogato is the ability to make some espresso or good strong coffee and some really good quality vanilla ice cream. Oh and a little of your favourite tipple if you wish.
This is a great chocolate sauce. It’s quick and easy to make, uses only a couple of ingredients and never lasts long in my house.

Three Ingredient Hot Chocolate Sauce
Ingredients
- 80 ml condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 70 ml single cream
Instructions
- Place the condensed milk into a small pan and heat gently.
- Mix the cocoa powder with 30ml cold water, stirring until it forms a lump free paste. Add another 30ml cold water and stir until incorporated.
- Pour the cocoa mixture into the warming condensed milk and heat gently until it starts to simmer. Now add the cream, heat again until it just starts to simmer then remove from the heat.
- Serve over ice cream.
